| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas lost an extraordinary animal |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | advocate with the passing of Robert Lynn Trimble of Dallas on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | June 18, 2022, at the age of 82; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Lynn and Faye Trimble, "Skip" Trimble was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | born on January 31, 1940, and grew up in Oak Cliff with two younger |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | sisters, Linda and Karen; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | went on to complete his bachelor's and law degrees at Southern |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Methodist University; after beginning his career with the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., he transferred to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Fort Worth office; he entered private practice with the Sands and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Tyler firm and later became a founding member of Winstead, McGuire, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sechrest, and Trimble, a partner in Centre Development and in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Andrews and Kurth, and finally, a founder of Catlyn Capital |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Corporation; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Trimble shared a fulfilling marriage of 44 years |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | with the love of his life, the former Mary Mitchell; she introduced |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | him to animal advocacy when a shelter she supported was in need of a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | pro bono lawyer, and he embraced the cause with true passion; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | employing his tremendous warmth and charm, as well as his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | expertise, he made an exceptional impact at both the state and local |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | level; he helped establish the Texas Humane Legislation Network, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and he was instrumental in the passage of a host of bills protecting |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | animals, including legislation addressing puppy mills, dog |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | fighting, and regulation of breeders; his efforts were key in the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | development of license plates benefiting spay/neuter programs, in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the formation of the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | in the creation of the Dallas County animal cruelty prosecutor |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | position, and in the passage of Dallas's Humane Pet Store |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Ordinance; among many leadership roles, he served as chair of the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | City of Dallas Animal Advisory Commission and on the boards of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Metroplex Animal Coalition and the Animal Legal Defense Fund; and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, A man of enormous kindness, Skip Trimble was devoted |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | to his large extended family, his many friends, and the well-being |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | of all animals, and his great contributions will continue to |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | resonate in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Lynn "Skip" |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Trimble and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn his passing; |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | Representatives adjourns this day it do so in memory of Skip |
