5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, June Jenkins has greatly benefited her community as |

6 | 6 | | president of the Collin County Branch of the NAACP; and |

7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Jenkins activated the Collin County NAACP in |
---|
8 | 8 | | 2016, and as president, she has worked diligently to advance the |
---|
9 | 9 | | organization's mission of ensuring political, educational, social, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and economic equality for all people and eliminating race-based |
---|
11 | 11 | | discrimination; under the able leadership of Ms. Jenkins, members |
---|
12 | 12 | | advocate for equal employment opportunities, access to high quality |
---|
13 | 13 | | education, youth leadership development, and voter mobilization; |
---|
14 | 14 | | and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing officers, leading |
---|
16 | 16 | | internal meetings, serving as a spokesperson for the organization, |
---|
17 | 17 | | and collaborating with local city leaders and councils, Ms. Jenkins |
---|
18 | 18 | | has established a number of important initiatives that have helped |
---|
19 | 19 | | further the Collin County NAACP's goals, including the Prepared to |
---|
20 | 20 | | Lead, Ready to Serve program, which educates Black members of the |
---|
21 | 21 | | community and encourages them to run for office; furthermore, |
---|
22 | 22 | | during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she orchestrated efforts |
---|
23 | 23 | | to provide food for people of color and those experiencing |
---|
24 | 24 | | homelessness in the county; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Alongside her work with the NAACP, Ms. Jenkins is |
---|
26 | 26 | | the owner of ECP Legacy Group and the founder of Noir Lifestyles of |
---|
27 | 27 | | Collin County; she is a member of the Junior League of Collin County |
---|
28 | 28 | | and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and she is also involved with |
---|
29 | 29 | | Leadership North Texas; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, June Jenkins' success in leading the Collin County |
---|
31 | 31 | | NAACP is a testament to her dedication, vision, and commitment to |
---|
32 | 32 | | social justice and equality, and her many contributions have earned |
---|
33 | 33 | | her the admiration and appreciation of her fellow citizens; now, |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
