44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, June Jenkins has greatly benefited her community as
66 president of the Collin County Branch of the NAACP; and
77 WHEREAS, Ms. Jenkins activated the Collin County NAACP in
88 2016, and as president, she has worked diligently to advance the
99 organization's mission of ensuring political, educational, social,
1010 and economic equality for all people and eliminating race-based
1111 discrimination; under the able leadership of Ms. Jenkins, members
1212 advocate for equal employment opportunities, access to high quality
1313 education, youth leadership development, and voter mobilization;
1414 and
1515 WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing officers, leading
1616 internal meetings, serving as a spokesperson for the organization,
1717 and collaborating with local city leaders and councils, Ms. Jenkins
1818 has established a number of important initiatives that have helped
1919 further the Collin County NAACP's goals, including the Prepared to
2020 Lead, Ready to Serve program, which educates Black members of the
2121 community and encourages them to run for office; furthermore,
2222 during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she orchestrated efforts
2323 to provide food for people of color and those experiencing
2424 homelessness in the county; and
2525 WHEREAS, Alongside her work with the NAACP, Ms. Jenkins is
2626 the owner of ECP Legacy Group and the founder of Noir Lifestyles of
2727 Collin County; she is a member of the Junior League of Collin County
2828 and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and she is also involved with
2929 Leadership North Texas; and
3030 WHEREAS, June Jenkins' success in leading the Collin County
3131 NAACP is a testament to her dedication, vision, and commitment to
3232 social justice and equality, and her many contributions have earned
3333 her the admiration and appreciation of her fellow citizens; now,
3434 therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby honor June Jenkins for her service as president
3737 of the Collin County Branch of the NAACP and extend to her sincere
3838 best wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it
3939 further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for Ms. Jenkins as an expression of high regard by the
4242 Texas House of Representatives.
