5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Temple lost an admired physician and a |

6 | 6 | | friend to many with the passing of Barbara Weiss Probe on September |

7 | 7 | | 8, 2022, at the age of 61; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Jane Weiss and Dr. Kurt Weiss, the |
---|
9 | 9 | | former Barbara Weiss was born in Dallas on October 15, 1960, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | grew up with five younger siblings, Carmen, David, Ruth, Katherine, |
---|
11 | 11 | | and John; after graduating as valedictorian of Clear Creek High |
---|
12 | 12 | | School, she went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology from |
---|
13 | 13 | | Baylor University and a medical degree from Texas A&M University; |
---|
14 | 14 | | she married her junior high school sweetheart, Bob Probe, in 1986, |
---|
15 | 15 | | and they were blessed with four children, Austin, Travis, Kurt, and |
---|
16 | 16 | | Tori; eventually, her family grew to include two beloved |
---|
17 | 17 | | granddaughters, Mackenzie and Onora; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Probe's deep compassion and gift for connection |
---|
19 | 19 | | led her to pursue a career as an internist, and she and her husband |
---|
20 | 20 | | both joined a Scott & White medical group; devoted to her patients, |
---|
21 | 21 | | she was firm in delivering health recommendations, but her kindness |
---|
22 | 22 | | and unstinting encouragement earned their great affection as well |
---|
23 | 23 | | as their respect and compliance; she was perennially listed among |
---|
24 | 24 | | Texas Monthly magazine's "Best Physicians" over the course of 28 |
---|
25 | 25 | | years in practice; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Dr. Probe served on the |
---|
27 | 27 | | board of the Temple Symphony Orchestra, and her fundraising prowess |
---|
28 | 28 | | contributed significantly to the growth of its endowment; she |
---|
29 | 29 | | further gave of her time and talents to the Methodist Church, the |
---|
30 | 30 | | American Heart Association, the Ralph Wilson Youth Club, and the |
---|
31 | 31 | | Temple Children's Museum; in addition, she was a supporter of the |
---|
32 | 32 | | Crested Butte Conservation Corps; she found a lovely property in |
---|
33 | 33 | | Crested Butte, Colorado, which she enjoyed sharing with family and |
---|
34 | 34 | | friends; her antique-filled home reflected her appreciation for |
---|
35 | 35 | | beauty as well; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Following her diagnosis with glioblastoma in 2018, |
---|
37 | 37 | | Dr. Probe bravely endured difficult surgeries and other treatment |
---|
38 | 38 | | in order to extend her time with loved ones, and she continued to be |
---|
39 | 39 | | a source of wisdom and comfort to all who knew her; although her |
---|
40 | 40 | | passing brought them great sorrow, her life stands as an inspiring |
---|
41 | 41 | | example of the good that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, |
---|
42 | 42 | | be it |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Weiss Probe |
---|
45 | 45 | | and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be it |
---|
46 | 46 | | further |
---|
47 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
48 | 48 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
49 | 49 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara |
---|
