5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The city of Dallas lost an esteemed businessman and |

6 | 6 | | civic leader with the passing of Gerald Wayne Fronterhouse on |
---|
7 | 7 | | September 17, 2022, at the age of 86; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Ada, Oklahoma, on May 22, 1936, Jerry |
---|
9 | 9 | | Fronterhouse was the son of Victor and Austa Fronterhouse; he |
---|
10 | 10 | | earned his bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the |
---|
11 | 11 | | University of Oklahoma, where he played football and served as |
---|
12 | 12 | | battalion commander for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps; |
---|
13 | 13 | | following two years in the U.S. Navy, he completed his MBA at |
---|
14 | 14 | | Harvard Business School and began his career as a credit analyst |
---|
15 | 15 | | with Republic National Bank; he rose quickly in the company, |
---|
16 | 16 | | becoming president and chief operating officer at just 42; after |
---|
17 | 17 | | Republic's merger with First National, he was named chair and CEO of |
---|
18 | 18 | | First Republic, one of the country's largest bank holding |
---|
19 | 19 | | companies; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fronterhouse served on the board of Texas |
---|
21 | 21 | | Instruments and many other companies; moreover, he gave freely of |
---|
22 | 22 | | his time and expertise as a member of the boards of numerous |
---|
23 | 23 | | nonprofit organizations, including the Hoblitzelle Foundation, UT |
---|
24 | 24 | | Southwestern Medical Foundation, Children's Medical Foundation, |
---|
25 | 25 | | Dallas Citizens Council, State Fair of Texas, Lamplighter School, |
---|
26 | 26 | | Hockaday School, and Highland Park United Methodist Church; he was |
---|
27 | 27 | | also a generous supporter of Harvard Business School; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Fronterhouse shared a |
---|
29 | 29 | | fulfilling marriage of 53 years with his college sweetheart, the |
---|
30 | 30 | | former Gretchen Gover; they were blessed with two children, Jenny |
---|
31 | 31 | | and Jeff; following the death of his first wife in 2012, he was |
---|
32 | 32 | | fortunate enough to find another great love with Annette Caldwell |
---|
33 | 33 | | Simmons, and they wed on Valentine's Day in 2016; he was a source of |
---|
34 | 34 | | encouragement and wise counsel to his nine grandchildren, Brant, |
---|
35 | 35 | | Lindsey, Lauren, Blake, Laney, Carson, Hayden, Alex, and Kara, and |
---|
36 | 36 | | he delighted in the arrival of four great-grandchildren; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Fronterhouse was admired not only for his |
---|
38 | 38 | | accomplishments, but also for his warmth, kindness, integrity, and |
---|
39 | 39 | | optimism, and he will be remembered with deep affection by all who |
---|
40 | 40 | | were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gerald Wayne |
---|
43 | 43 | | Fronterhouse and extend sincere sympathy to his family and many |
---|
44 | 44 | | friends; and, be it further |
---|
45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
46 | 46 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

47 | 47 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerry |
