| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Minority Business Enterprise Public Policy Day is |

| 6 | 6 | | taking place at the State Capitol on March 15, 2023; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, First held in 1997, Minority Business Enterprise |

| 8 | 8 | | Public Policy Day is an annual event that connects minority |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | business enterprises with Texas lawmakers to address issues that |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | impact minority-owned businesses and to promote accountability, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | collaboration, and engagement; the groups advocate for legislation |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | that makes Texas a more diverse and business-friendly state and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ensures that participation goals for historically underutilized |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | businesses are met at state agencies, commissions, colleges, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | universities; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The coalition of business organizations involved in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the event represents 868 certified minority business enterprises |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that, in total, contribute more than $17 billion in revenue to the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | state economy; these businesses have also created or preserved more |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | than 82,000 jobs; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Minority business enterprises contribute greatly to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the cultural and economic vitality of this state, and their efforts |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | are indeed to be encouraged and commended; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 15, 2023, as Minority Business |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Enterprise Public Policy Day at the State Capitol and extend to all |

| 27 | 27 | | those in attendance sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and |
