5	5	WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
6	6	passing of Mary Evelyn McKinney of San Angelo on February 7, 2023,
7	7	at the age of 93; and
8	8	WHEREAS, The daughter of Judge S. E. Stout Jr. and Mary Emma
9	9	Garlitz Stout, the former Evelyn Stout was born in Eden on
10	10	December 31, 1929; she grew up with five siblings, Seth, Billy,
11	11	Joyce, John, and Butch, and graduated from Reagan County High
12	12	School; early in 1947, she went on her first date with Robert
13	13	Leonadis "R. L." McKinney Jr.; they danced at the Melody Club in San
14	14	Angelo, and they became partners forever with their marriage on
15	15	June 14 of that year; whenever they jitterbugged, other dancers
16	16	would clear the floor to watch them; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Mrs. McKinney devoted herself to raising her three
18	18	treasured children, Pete, Cheryl, and Lorri; eventually, she was
19	19	blessed with six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two
20	20	great-great-grandchildren, and she embraced the role of "Nanny" to
21	21	other children as well; she adored annual vacations to Ruidoso, New
22	22	Mexico, with her family and friends; and
23	23	WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. McKinney was a valued member
24	24	of First Methodist Church in Big Lake and then attended Glen Meadows
25	25	Baptist Church in San Angelo; she knew a host of old hymns and
26	26	joyfully lifted her voice in song; in addition, she was an avid
27	27	gardener, bird-watcher, and golfer; Big Lake Golf Course named an
28	28	annual tournament in honor of her and a fellow enthusiast;
29	29	Mrs. McKinney and her husband shared a fulfilling relationship of
30	30	64 years until his passing in 2011; until the end of her days, she
31	31	loved to dance, and she was affectionately nicknamed "Twinkle Toes"
32	32	by the staff at Lyndale San Angelo Senior Living; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Although Evelyn McKinney is greatly missed, she has
34	34	left her family and friends with a wealth of wonderful memories, and
35	35	she will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now,
36	36	therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
38	38	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Evelyn McKinney
39	39	and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
40	40	children, R. L. "Pete" McKinney and his wife, Patrice, Cheryl
41	41	deCordova and her husband, Aubrey, and Lorri Jenkins and her
42	42	husband, Mike; to her grandchildren, Rachel Beaver and her husband,
43	43	Jonathan, Leonadis McKinney and his wife, Leigh, Scott Jenkins,
44	44	Kayla Neatherlin and her husband, Blake, Clay deCordova and his
45	45	wife, Shelia, and Emily deCordova; to her great-grandchildren,
46	46	Joshua Beaver, Christopher Beaver, Keira Neatherlin, Jace
47	47	Neatherlin, Emeline McKinney, Taylor Grassman and her husband,
48	48	Chase, and Matthew deCordova and his wife Katelyn; to her
49	49	great-great-grandchildren, Cooper Grassman and Adaline deCordova;
50	50	to her brother, Butch Stout, and his wife, Sharon; and to her many
51	51	other relatives and friends; and, be it further
52	52	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
53	53	prepared for her family, and that when the Texas House of
54	54	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Evelyn
55	55	McKinney.
