| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jennifer Spiller has been named the recipient of a |

| 6 | 6 | | 2022 Joe S. Mundy Award from Southwestern University; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the Mundy Awards were created |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to pay tribute to Southwestern University alumnus and former |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | trustee Joe Mundy; the awards recognize faculty and staff members |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the university |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and its students; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of this notable accolade, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Jennifer Spiller is the family nurse practitioner and health |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | services manager at Southwestern University; she has played a vital |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | role in the school's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, serving on |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the health and safety committee and exploring on-site testing |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | options, setting up an alternative clinic, and teaching others |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | about contact tracing and care management; moreover, she continued |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to treat students despite the risk to her own health; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Spiller received an undergraduate degree from |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | The University of Texas at Austin in 1995, and she went on to attend |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | nursing school and earn a master's degree in nursing at Angelo State |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | University; she first joined the Southwestern University Health |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Center in 2013, when she took a position as a family nurse |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | practitioner; she currently lives in Georgetown with her husband |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and two children; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through her passion, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | dedication to her patients, Jennifer Spiller has exemplified the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | highest ideals of her profession, and it is a pleasure to join in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | honoring her for her contributions to the Southwestern University |

| 31 | 31 | | community; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
