| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Christine Bowman has been named the recipient of a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 2022 Joe S. Mundy Award from Southwestern University; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the Mundy Awards were created |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | as a tribute to Southwestern University alumnus and former trustee |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Joe Mundy; the awards recognize exemplary faculty and staff members |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the university |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and its students; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, An alumnus of SU, Ms. Bowman joined the university's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | administration following her graduation in 1993, and she currently |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | serves as dean of enrollment services; among her many |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | responsibilities, she oversees the admissions office and plays an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | instrumental role in student recruitment; she has also led the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Enrollment Analysis Committee for many years, and under her able |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | guidance, the group has assisted with clearing student accounts, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | creating and implementing preferred name procedures, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | strengthening parent communication; she has further distinguished |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | herself as an invaluable mentor to her colleagues; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Bowman has held leadership positions with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | numerous professional organizations, among them the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association for College Admission Counseling and the National |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Association for College Admission Counseling; in addition, she is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the current chair of the Colleges That Change Lives Board of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Directors, and she previously served as a co-chair for the NACAC |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | National Conference in Austin; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedication, vision, and expertise, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Christine Bowman has greatly benefited Southwestern University and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | earned the respect and admiration of her peers, and she is truly |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Christine Bowman on her receipt of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | a 2022 Joe S. Mundy Award from Southwestern University and extend to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
