| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Quinn of Brady was elected president of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association at the organization's |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | annual convention, held in Kerrville from July 14 to 16, 2022; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1915, the Texas Sheep and Goat |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Raisers Association is the oldest sheep and goat organization in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the United States; it advocates for production agriculture |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | throughout Texas and beyond and seeks to educate the public about |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the importance of sheep and goats to agriculture and our economy; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A longtime member of TSGRA, Mr. Quinn previously |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | served the organization as a district director, and he played a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | vital role in updating the bylaws during his tenure on the group's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | bylaws committee; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Quinn graduated from Texas Tech University in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1976 with a degree in agricultural education and subsequently |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | joined his brother John in running their family's cattle and goat |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | ranch near Brady; after sharing duties for a few years, the brothers |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | divided up the property, and today Mr. Quinn and his wife, Cynthia, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | raise Kensing meat goats and commercial cattle; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Quinn has further contributed to his community |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | through his involvement with the boards of Hickory Underground |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Water Conservation District No. 1 and the Farm Service Agency; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | moreover, he served as a McCulloch County commissioner for 12 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | years; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In taking on the role as president of TSGRA, Jim |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Quinn has demonstrated a profound commitment to the agricultural |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | industry in Texas, and he will undoubtedly be a strong advocate for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the members of the organization; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Quinn on his election as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be |
