55 WHEREAS, Members of United Way organizations in Texas are
66 celebrating the 20th anniversary of 2-1-1 Texas in 2023; and
77 WHEREAS, A public-private partnership overseen by the Texas
88 Health and Human Services Commission, 2-1-1 Texas operates 25 area
99 information centers, 12 of which are managed by local United Ways;
1010 this 24/7 statewide information hotline plays a crucial part in
1111 helping nonprofits, state leaders, and other stakeholders to
1212 understand the needs of their communities and in connecting
1313 individuals with local resources; and
1414 WHEREAS, The more than 60 local United Way organizations in
1515 Texas work to improve quality of life and strengthen communities
1616 through education, financial stability, health, and nonprofit
1717 sector capacity; to that end, they mobilize thousands of volunteers
1818 each year and raise hundreds of millions of dollars, reinvesting
1919 the money to drive measurable change in the communities they serve;
2020 and
2121 WHEREAS, For the past two decades, 2-1-1 Texas has assisted
2222 countless residents in navigating a wide range of agencies and
2323 programs to get the services they need, and in so doing, it is
2424 helping build a brighter future for all; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2626 Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of 2-1-1 Texas
2727 and extend to United Way staff, volunteers, and donors sincere
2828 gratitude for their contributions to the program and to the State of
2929 Texas.
