| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Springlake-Earth Elementary/Middle School has been |

| 6 | 6 | | named a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School, one of the most |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | prestigious designations an elementary or secondary school in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | United States can receive; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | disadvantaged students; Springlake-Earth Elementary/Middle School |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | was one of only 297 public and private schools nationwide and 31 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | schools in Texas to have earned this impressive honor in 2022; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of principal Bub McIver, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Springlake-Earth serves nearly 200 students in prekindergarten |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | through seventh grade, and over the past three years, the school has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | introduced a number of initiatives to improve academic performance, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | including implementing a four-day week for students in order to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | give teachers additional preparation time; the campus has also |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | improved its overall rating in state accountability measures and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | earned recognition for exemplary achievement in closing gaps; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and perseverance, the teachers and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | students of Springlake-Earth Elementary/Middle School have |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | established a record of scholastic excellence, and their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | outstanding efforts have been duly recognized with the Blue Ribbon |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | School award; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Springlake-Earth |

| 31 | 31 | | Elementary/Middle School on its selection as a 2022 National Blue |
