| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Ibn Sina Foundation is making a positive |

| 6 | 6 | | difference in the Greater Houston area by providing low-cost |

| 7 | 7 | | preventative and primary health care to residents in need; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2001, the Ibn Sina Foundation was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | formed by a group of local physicians and professionals to help meet |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the health care needs of a rapidly expanding population of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | underserved families; the foundation started with one clinic and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | one part-time employee in 2001, and it served families with limited |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | access to preventative care and very few resources to pay for it; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | today, Ibn Sina has more than 90 staff members and 7 community |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | clinics in Harris, Fort Bend, and Jefferson Counties, and it has had |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | over one million patient visits to date; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Ibn Sina Foundation aims to improve the quality |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of life and enhance the life expectancy of underprivileged and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | uninsured individuals; in keeping with this mission, it offers |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | inexpensive preventative and primary medical, dental, diagnostic, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | specialty, behavioral health, and children's health services, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | it focuses on the prevention and control of diseases at an early |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | stage; to give patients the most comprehensive and affordable care, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Ibn Sina partners with other nonprofit organizations, government |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | agencies, and hospitals to provide referral services for indigent |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | communities; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Recently, the Ibn Sina Foundation has expanded its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | mental health services and created an additional building to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provide integrative mental and behavioral health care to members of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the community; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, For more than two decades, the Ibn Sina Foundation |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | has distinguished itself as a vital resource within its community, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and it is a pleasure to join in commending the organization for its |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | valuable contributions to the health and well-being of area |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | citizens; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby recognize the Ibn Sina Foundation for its |
