R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali, a faculty member in the Department of
Family and Community Medicine at The University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio, is serving as Physician of the Day at
the State Capitol on March 14, 2023; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College
in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Ali moved to San Antonio to complete her
family medicine residency at UT Health San Antonio, where she
served as chief resident and received the Resident Teacher Award
from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine; she joined the
faculty of the Department of Family and Community Medicine in 2011
and has since taught and mentored residents in family medicine and
other medical students at the university; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ali specializes in women's health and obesity
medicine, and her clinical interest in weight management led her to
become a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in
2015; she also participates in and oversees quality improvement
projects at the Family Health Center, and she is an active member of
the Bexar County Translational Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali has demonstrated a profound
dedication to her field and to the health and well-being of her
fellow citizens, and it is a pleasure to welcome her to the State
Capitol; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Fozia Ali for her participation in the
Physician of the Day program and extend to her sincere best wishes
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Ali as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
