| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali, a faculty member in the Department of |

| 6 | 6 | | Family and Community Medicine at The University of Texas Health |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Science Center at San Antonio, is serving as Physician of the Day at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the State Capitol on March 14, 2023; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Ali moved to San Antonio to complete her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | family medicine residency at UT Health San Antonio, where she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | served as chief resident and received the Resident Teacher Award |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine; she joined the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | faculty of the Department of Family and Community Medicine in 2011 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and has since taught and mentored residents in family medicine and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | other medical students at the university; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Ali specializes in women's health and obesity |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | medicine, and her clinical interest in weight management led her to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | become a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 2015; she also participates in and oversees quality improvement |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | projects at the Family Health Center, and she is an active member of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Bexar County Translational Advisory Board; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali has demonstrated a profound |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | dedication to her field and to the health and well-being of her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fellow citizens, and it is a pleasure to welcome her to the State |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Capitol; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Fozia Ali for her participation in the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Physician of the Day program and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | for the future; and, be it further |
