88 WHEREAS, A flagship project of the Alliance for Safety and

1919 long-term, debilitating effects without appropriate support; Crime
2020 Survivors for Safety and Justice helps to bridge these gaps in
2121 victim services, as well as to offer guidance to policy makers on
2222 evidence-based practices to protect victims and reduce incidents of
2323 violent crime; and
2424 WHEREAS, Each year during National Crime Victims' Rights
2525 Week, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice holds its Survivors
2626 Speak event, which brings together crime survivors and their loved
2727 ones to advocate for safety and justice policy reforms,
2828 particularly in communities with high rates of crime; since its
2929 inception, the event has grown into a yearlong movement that
3030 culminates in a National Healing Vigil Day of Action, with events in
3131 more than two dozen cities around the country; and
3232 WHEREAS, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice is playing an
3333 important role in helping the people and communities most harmed by
3434 crime and violence, and all those associated with the organization
3535 are indeed deserving of commendation for their tireless advocacy;
3636 now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3838 Legislature hereby recognize March 30, 2023, as Survivors Speak
3939 Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend to the staff and
