| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of Greater Vision Church in Houston are |

| 6 | 6 | | marking the 20th anniversary of their church's founding with a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | homecoming celebration on March 19, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since its organization in 2003, Greater Vision |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Church has benefited from the dedicated efforts of Pastor L. D. Lee |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sr., who established the congregation with 350 members; today, this |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | respected clergyman continues to lead the thriving church, and in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | carrying out his duties, he draws on the vital support of the GVC |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | deacons and associate ministers; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In December 2003, the church purchased property on |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Westshire Drive that included four buildings on nearly five acres |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of land; less than a year later, the GVC family officially moved |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | into its new sanctuary at the site, and after a decade and a half of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | hard work and perseverance, the congregation held a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | mortgage-burning ceremony on September 9, 2018; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong traditions, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the members of this notable house of worship have established a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | variety of commendable programs that foster fellowship as well as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | numerous ministries that offer help to those in need; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Many Houston residents have looked to Greater Vision |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Church for spiritual guidance over the years, and it is a pleasure |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to join in honoring the church at this special time in its rich |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of Greater |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Vision Church and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | future; and, be it further |
