8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin has safely operated Launch Site One in |

9 | 10 | | Culberson County since 2006; there, it developed and tested the |
---|
10 | 11 | | suborbital New Shepard system and reusable rocket engines necessary |
---|
11 | 12 | | to fulfill its vision of millions of people living and working in |
---|
12 | 13 | | space for the benefit of Earth; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2021, the company made human spaceflight history |
---|
14 | 15 | | at Launch Site One, becoming the first entity to fly humans into |
---|
15 | 16 | | space from Texas and the third private company to fly humans above |
---|
16 | 17 | | the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space |
---|
17 | 18 | | located at an altitude of 100 kilometers; the company repeated this |
---|
18 | 19 | | achievement a total of six times in the span of 13 months, |
---|
19 | 20 | | ultimately launching 31 humans into space from the Lone Star State |
---|
20 | 21 | | and bringing Texas, Culberson County, and Van Horn to the attention |
---|
21 | 22 | | of millions of people across the world; and |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin has also contributed to national |

23 | 24 | | security efforts with the testing and delivery of the BE-4, a |
---|
24 | 25 | | powerful liquified natural gas-fueled reusable rocket engine; the |

25 | 26 | | company employs upwards of 400 aerospace engineers, technicians, |

26 | 27 | | and business operations specialists in over 78 House and 31 Senate |

27 | 28 | | districts in Texas; it has awarded business to more than 400 |

28 | 29 | | companies in the Lone Star State, for a total spend in Texas of well |

30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of space |

31 | 32 | | exploration, Blue Origin collects hundreds of thousands of |

34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Blue Origin is driving further innovation in the |

37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
