 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The award-winning ranchera and norteña band Grupo
 Sólido has made vital contributions to the music industry in Texas
 and beyond; and
 WHEREAS, Hailing from El Paso, this accomplished band takes
 inspiration from music on both sides of the border; Grupo Sólido
 traces its origins to 1998, when brothers Ben De León, Medardo
 Garza, and Amado Garza and their lifelong friend, Rolando
 Benavides, recorded a demo and sent it to Freddie Records; the band
 roster has evolved over the years with the addition of past member
 Temo Gómez and current members Elijio Salinas and Fernando Trevino;
 and
 WHEREAS, Grupo Sólido earned acclaim with its debut album,
 Hasta la cima del cielo, which was nominated for both Grammy and
 Latin Grammy awards in the Best Tejano Album category; the band has
 gone on to release numerous other records, including a live album,
 En vivo contigo, and Latin Grammy nominees Vuelve and Cuidado; the
 group won a Grammy in the Best Tejano Album category for Nadie como
 tú in 2001 and a Latin Grammy in the same category for Sentimientos
 in 2015; and
 WHEREAS, Drawing from the rich traditions of regional Mexican
 music, the members of Grupo Sólido have distinguished themselves
 with their exceptional talent and dedication to their craft, and
 they are indeed deserving of recognition for their outstanding
 record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Grupo Sólido for its contributions to
 the music industry and extend to its members sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
