5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A caring and generous life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Norma Vela Segovia of Mission on July 9, 2022, at the age |
---|
7 | 7 | | of 66; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Ramiro and Hermila Vela, Norma |
---|
9 | 9 | | Segovia was born on June 21, 1956; she graduated from La Joya High |
---|
10 | 10 | | School in 1974 and continued her education at Pan American |
---|
11 | 11 | | University, where she earned a degree in speech pathology; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping students with speech |
---|
13 | 13 | | impediments, Mrs. Segovia enjoyed a rewarding career as a speech |
---|
14 | 14 | | pathologist with the Mission Consolidated Independent School |
---|
15 | 15 | | District that spanned three decades; following her retirement, she |
---|
16 | 16 | | worked in the private sector; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 1979, she married Raymundo Segovia, and the |
---|
18 | 18 | | couple shared 28 years of marriage, before Mr. Segovia's death in |
---|
19 | 19 | | 2007; Mrs. Segovia was a loving mother to her three children, Ramon, |
---|
20 | 20 | | Ramiro, and Rebekah, and a doting grandmother to her eight |
---|
21 | 21 | | grandchildren; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her faith, Norma |
---|
23 | 23 | | Segovia was a source of joy to all who shared in the richness of her |
---|
24 | 24 | | life, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, |
---|
25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
---|
26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Norma Vela Segovia |
---|
28 | 28 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |

29 | 29 | | sons, Ramon Segovia and his wife, Avelina, and Ramiro Segovia and |

30 | 30 | | his wife, Segovia; to her daughter, Rebekah Menchaca, and her |

31 | 31 | | husband, Jorge; to her grandchildren, Isabella, Ryan, Raelynn, Ray, |

32 | 32 | | Roman, Max, Alina, and Emma; to her sisters, Cynthia Vela and Debra |
