44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A caring and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Norma Vela Segovia of Mission on July 9, 2022, at the age
77 of 66; and
88 WHEREAS, The daughter of Ramiro and Hermila Vela, Norma
99 Segovia was born on June 21, 1956; she graduated from La Joya High
1010 School in 1974 and continued her education at Pan American
1111 University, where she earned a degree in speech pathology; and
1212 WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping students with speech
1313 impediments, Mrs. Segovia enjoyed a rewarding career as a speech
1414 pathologist with the Mission Consolidated Independent School
1515 District that spanned three decades; following her retirement, she
1616 worked in the private sector; and
1717 WHEREAS, In 1979, she married Raymundo Segovia, and the
1818 couple shared 28 years of marriage, before Mr. Segovia's death in
1919 2007; Mrs. Segovia was a loving mother to her three children, Ramon,
2020 Ramiro, and Rebekah, and a doting grandmother to her eight
2121 grandchildren; and
2222 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her faith, Norma
2323 Segovia was a source of joy to all who shared in the richness of her
2424 life, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
2525 therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Norma Vela Segovia
2828 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
2929 sons, Ramon Segovia and his wife, Avelina, and Ramiro Segovia and
3030 his wife, Segovia; to her daughter, Rebekah Menchaca, and her
3131 husband, Jorge; to her grandchildren, Isabella, Ryan, Raelynn, Ray,
3232 Roman, Max, Alina, and Emma; to her sisters, Cynthia Vela and Debra
3333 Vela-Leal and her husband, Esiquio; to her mother-in-law, Dolores
3434 Segovia; to her brother-in-law, Raul Segovia, and his wife, Melly;
3535 to her sisters-in-law, Margaret Rodriguez and her husband, Oscar,
3636 Mary Ann Vela and her husband, JJ, Ramona Espinoza and her husband,
3737 Gene, and Maggie Vallejo and her husband, John; to her companion,
3838 Ramiro Zamora; and to her other friends and relatives; and, be it
3939 further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4242 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Norma
4343 Segovia.
