| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Adam Wall, a member of the Kaufman Police |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Department, was honored for his courageous actions in the line of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | duty with a Meritorious Service Award in May 2022; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Officer Wall was serving on the Kaufman Independent |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | School District police force at the time of the incident on |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | April 11, 2022, when he intervened to prevent a reckless driver |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from entering a school zone; the suspect, a 37-year-old man, was |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | pursued by police before ultimately being arrested after a brief |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | standoff on U.S. Highway 175; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Upon witnessing the driver approaching the school |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | zone near two Kaufman campuses on South Houston Street, Officer |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Wall acted quickly to position his patrol vehicle to block the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | driver's path; the suspect was later determined to be driving while |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | heavily intoxicated; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Kaufman community is fortunate to have such |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | exceptional public servants as Adam Wall, whose swift and decisive |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | response helped prevent what could have been a tragic turn of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | events, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | heroism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Kaufman police officer Adam Wall on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | his receipt of a Meritorious Service Award and commend him for his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | brave and selfless actions on April 11, 2022; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
