| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with the passing of Roy Chester Johnson of Killeen on February 7, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2023, at the age of 59; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Theron and Gail Johnson, Roy Johnson was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | born in Fort Hood on March 25, 1963; he graduated from Ellison High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School, where he formed many lifelong friendships; dedicated to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | helping his fellow citizens, he worked for the sanitation |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | department before joining the Killeen Fire Department; he was a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | dispatcher for 10 years and served for three decades as a volunteer |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | fireman; an animal lover, he was later employed as field supervisor |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | with the Animal Services Division of the Killeen Police Department |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for 10 years until his retirement; he went on to drive a school bus |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | for the Killeen Independent School District, and his kindness made |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | him a great favorite with his young passengers; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson shared a fulfilling marriage of 38 years |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | with his wife, Brenda; he was the proud father of 4 children, John, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Chad, Melissa, and Heather, and eventually, his treasured family |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | grew to include 12 grandchildren; in his free time, he loved to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | visit his favorite place, Port Aransas, to watch dolphins, walk the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | jetties, and do some deep-sea fishing; he enjoyed making people |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | laugh and playing pranks, and his warmth and honesty endeared him to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | all; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Although Roy Johnson is deeply missed by those he |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | left behind, they will forever treasure their memories of his sunny |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | personality and his great devotion to his family and his community; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roy Chester Johnson |

| 33 | 33 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |

| 34 | 34 | | wife, Brenda Johnson; to his children, John Daniel Jamieson III and |

| 35 | 35 | | his wife, Anna, Chad Andrew Jamieson and his wife, Tiffany, Melissa |

| 37 | 37 | | her husband, Rodney; to his father, Sergeant Major (Ret.) Theron L. |
