44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
66 with the passing of Roy Chester Johnson of Killeen on February 7,
77 2023, at the age of 59; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Theron and Gail Johnson, Roy Johnson was
99 born in Fort Hood on March 25, 1963; he graduated from Ellison High
1010 School, where he formed many lifelong friendships; dedicated to
1111 helping his fellow citizens, he worked for the sanitation
1212 department before joining the Killeen Fire Department; he was a
1313 dispatcher for 10 years and served for three decades as a volunteer
1414 fireman; an animal lover, he was later employed as field supervisor
1515 with the Animal Services Division of the Killeen Police Department
1616 for 10 years until his retirement; he went on to drive a school bus
1717 for the Killeen Independent School District, and his kindness made
1818 him a great favorite with his young passengers; and
1919 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson shared a fulfilling marriage of 38 years
2020 with his wife, Brenda; he was the proud father of 4 children, John,
2121 Chad, Melissa, and Heather, and eventually, his treasured family
2222 grew to include 12 grandchildren; in his free time, he loved to
2323 visit his favorite place, Port Aransas, to watch dolphins, walk the
2424 jetties, and do some deep-sea fishing; he enjoyed making people
2525 laugh and playing pranks, and his warmth and honesty endeared him to
2626 all; and
2727 WHEREAS, Although Roy Johnson is deeply missed by those he
2828 left behind, they will forever treasure their memories of his sunny
2929 personality and his great devotion to his family and his community;
3030 now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3232 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roy Chester Johnson
3333 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3434 wife, Brenda Johnson; to his children, John Daniel Jamieson III and
3535 his wife, Anna, Chad Andrew Jamieson and his wife, Tiffany, Melissa
3636 Jamieson Heminover and her husband, Keith, and Heather Johnson and
3737 her husband, Rodney; to his father, Sergeant Major (Ret.) Theron L.
3838 Johnson; to his sisters, Gail Stokes and Michele Johnson-Denney and
3939 her husband, Frank; to his 12 grandchildren; and to his other
4040 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roy
4444 Johnson.
