| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, March 23, 2023, is Pakistan Day, and this occasion |

| 6 | 6 | | provides a fitting opportunity to commemorate the 83rd anniversary |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of the Lahore Resolution and to welcome those visiting the State |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Capitol in observance of the day; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A milestone in Pakistan's struggle for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | independence, the Lahore Resolution was presented on March 23, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1940, by the All-India Muslim League at its annual public session in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Lahore; it supported the creation of a homeland in Muslim-majority |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | provinces in British India; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The 23rd of March is now marked as Pakistan Day to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | celebrate the passage of this resolution; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The adoption of the Lahore Resolution represented a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | galvanizing moment in a long, evolutionary political process, which |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | ultimately led to the establishment of the Islamic Republic of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Pakistan as the world's first Islamic republic; now, therefore, be |
|---|

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 22 | 22 | | Legislature hereby commemorate Pakistan Day and recognize all those |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | who are visiting the State Capitol on March 23, 2023, in honor of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | this special day. |
