| 7 | 7 | | Contest by the Optimist Club of Galveston Noon; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by Optimist International, the annual |

| 9 | 9 | | essay contest offers an opportunity for students to form their own |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | views surrounding a central idea and to hone their writing skills; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | this year, contestants were required to submit a 700 to 800-word |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | essay on the topic "Who is an Everyday Hero that Brings Out the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Optimism in You?" to their local Optimist Club; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Daniels' essay was chosen out of 41 citywide |

| 15 | 15 | | entries by the Optimist Club of Galveston Noon, and as a first-place |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | winner at the club level, her essay will advance to the district |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | contest to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship; in addition, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Optimist Club of Galveston Noon will recognize her at a luncheon |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in March 2023; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan is a source of great |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | pride to her family and her school, and she may indeed look forward |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jada Daniels on winning first place |

| 25 | 25 | | in the local Optimist International Essay Contest and extend to her |

| 26 | 26 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
