| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Officer Steven Robert Nothem II of the Carrollton |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Police Department died in the line of duty on October 18, 2022, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 36, and his untimely passing was a tragic loss to his |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | family, to his fellow officers, and to the residents of his |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | community; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 28, 1986, Steve Nothem was a patriot who |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years; during |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | his time in the military, he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | California, where he met his future wife, Cristl Leigh; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his discharge, Officer Nothem earned a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | degree in criminal justice in Utah and went on to attend the police |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | academy; he then joined the Grand Chute Police Department in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Wisconsin, ably serving that community for four years before moving |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to Texas in 2020 and becoming a valued member of the Carrollton PD; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Nothem enjoyed the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | love and support of his wife, Cristl, and he took great pride in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | their four children, Samuel, Carter, Logan, and Sadie; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his integrity, compassion, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | generosity, Steve Nothem embodied the highest ideals of his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | profession, and his heroism and sacrifice will long be remembered |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | by all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Steven Robert Nothem |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | II of the Carrollton Police Department and extend sincere |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
