44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
66 a close with the passing of Atascosa County constable Preciliano
77 Medina on October 10, 2019, at the age of 66; and
88 WHEREAS, "Percy" Medina was born in San Antonio on
99 January 12, 1953, to Preciliano Medina Sr. and Evalina Leija, and
1010 he grew up with six siblings, Patricia, Teresa, Diana, Michael,
1111 John David, and Phyllis; he attended Harlandale High School, and in
1212 1978, he opened Medina Electric Motor Repair in Pleasanton, which
1313 he owned and operated for more than 40 years; and
1414 WHEREAS, In 1999, Mr. Medina was appointed the Precinct 1
1515 constable of Atascosa County, and for nearly two decades, he served
1616 his fellow citizens with dignity and respect, always greeting
1717 people with a smile, a handshake, and a kind word; he earned an
1818 associate's degree at St. Philip's College, and he taught at Palo
1919 Alto College, where he started a scholarship program for families
2020 in need; a man of faith, he belonged to the Holy Name Society and
2121 taught catechism at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in
2222 Leming; and
2323 WHEREAS, Mr. Medina enjoyed the love and support of his wife,
2424 Roberta, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage of 46 years; the
2525 couple were blessed with four children, Erica, Priscilla, Gabriel,
2626 and Mark, who carry on and continue to expand his scholarship award
27- program; their family later grew to include eight grandchildren,
28- Joseph, Andrew, Samuel, Lucas, Emery, Hailey, Copeland, and
29- Kinsley; and
27+ program; their family later grew to include six grandchildren,
28+ Joseph, Andrew, Samuel, Lucas, Emery, and Hailey; and
3029 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his
3130 community, Percy Medina earned the lasting respect and admiration
3231 of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
3332 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3433 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Preciliano Medina
3534 and extend heartfelt condolences to his loved ones; and, be it
3635 further
3736 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3837 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3938 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Percy
4039 Medina.
