5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of Atascosa County constable Preciliano |

7 | 7 | | Medina on October 10, 2019, at the age of 66; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, "Percy" Medina was born in San Antonio on |
---|
9 | 9 | | January 12, 1953, to Preciliano Medina Sr. and Evalina Leija, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | he grew up with six siblings, Patricia, Teresa, Diana, Michael, |
---|
11 | 11 | | John David, and Phyllis; he attended Harlandale High School, and in |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1978, he opened Medina Electric Motor Repair in Pleasanton, which |
---|
13 | 13 | | he owned and operated for more than 40 years; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1999, Mr. Medina was appointed the Precinct 1 |
---|
15 | 15 | | constable of Atascosa County, and for nearly two decades, he served |
---|
16 | 16 | | his fellow citizens with dignity and respect, always greeting |
---|
17 | 17 | | people with a smile, a handshake, and a kind word; he earned an |
---|
18 | 18 | | associate's degree at St. Philip's College, and he taught at Palo |
---|
19 | 19 | | Alto College, where he started a scholarship program for families |
---|
20 | 20 | | in need; a man of faith, he belonged to the Holy Name Society and |
---|
21 | 21 | | taught catechism at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in |
---|
22 | 22 | | Leming; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Medina enjoyed the love and support of his wife, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Roberta, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage of 46 years; the |
---|
25 | 25 | | couple were blessed with four children, Erica, Priscilla, Gabriel, |
---|
26 | 26 | | and Mark, who carry on and continue to expand his scholarship award |
---|
27 | | - | program; their family later grew to include eight grandchildren, |
---|
28 | | - | Joseph, Andrew, Samuel, Lucas, Emery, Hailey, Copeland, and |
---|
