| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, March 23, 2023, is Pakistan Day, the day that |

| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the 83rd anniversary of the Lahore Resolution and it |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | is fitting to welcome those visiting the State Capitol in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | observance of the day; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Pakistan Day is observed annually on March 23rd by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | over 80,000 Pakistanis that call Texas home and by Pakistanis all |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | over the world; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, This occasion provides the opportunity to recognize |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the societal, religious, linguistic, and economic contributions of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the people and families who have immigrated to Texas from Pakistan; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The success of Texas has been bolstered by |

| 17 | 17 | | Pakistanis and Pakistani-Texans through their professional work, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | cultural background, and values of peace and prosperity; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Today, the State of Texas joins Pakistanis in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | celebrating Pakistan Day and in promoting diversity, inclusion, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | education, and the appreciation of Pakistani culture and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Pakistani community residing in our state; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby recognize Pakistan Day and welcome all those who |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | are visiting the State Capitol on March 23, 2023, in honor of this |
