| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | memories of Michael V. Foster of McKinney, who passed away on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | February 19, 2023, at the age of 54; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Clyde Foster and Judy Malone Price, Mike |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Foster was born in Plainview on June 14, 1968, and he grew up with |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the companionship of his brother, Jeff, and his sister, Cheryl; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | graduated from Plainview High School; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Foster enjoyed a rewarding career with United |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Supermarkets that spanned more than three decades, including 15 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | years as the store director for Market Street in McKinney; under his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | able leadership, the store received numerous honors, including |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Business of the Year and Supermarket of the Year; in 2019, he was |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | recognized as the grocery chain's Store Director of the Year; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Mr. Foster was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | involved with numerous civic organizations, such as the McKinney |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Kiwanis Club and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce; he was also a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | member of the boards of Volunteer McKinney, the McKinney Alliance, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Smiles Charity, and the YMCA, and he served on the steering |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | committee for Community Lifeline Center; among his many |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | achievements, he received a Distinguished Service Award from the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | City of McKinney, and he graduated from the Leadership McKinney |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | program in 2010; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Foster enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and support of his wife, Shanna, with whom he shared a fulfilling |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | marriage of 18 years, and he took great pride in his children, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Garrett and Erin; during his leisure hours, he enjoyed playing |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | golf, hunting, boating, skiing, and taking part in other outdoor |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | activities; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Mike Foster lived a full and generous life devoted |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | to his family, his profession, and his community, and he will |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | forever be remembered with great admiration and affection; now, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Michael V. Foster |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | and extend profound sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be |
