44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Ysmael D. Fonseca Jr. was appointed by Governor Greg
66 Abbott to serve as judge of the 476th Judicial District Court in
77 Hidalgo County on March 15, 2023; and
88 WHEREAS, Judge Fonseca is a partner at Guerra & Sabo, PLLC,
99 and he previously served as judge of the 464th Judicial District
1010 Court, where he presided over thousands of criminal, family, and
1111 civil cases; and
1212 WHEREAS, A member of the State Bar of Texas, Judge Fonseca
1313 also belongs to the Hidalgo County Bar Association, the Claims and
1414 Litigation Management Alliance, and the Federalist Society;
1515 civically engaged, he serves on the board of numerous community
1616 organizations, including RGV LEAD and the Shary Foundation, where
1717 he has also volunteered as a high school professional mentor; he
1818 earned both his bachelor's degree and his law degree from the
1919 University of Notre Dame; and
2020 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Ysmael Fonseca has upheld the
2121 highest standards of his profession, and the expertise he has
2222 acquired along the way will serve him well as he takes on this
2323 important new role; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Ysmael D. Fonseca Jr.
2626 on his appointment to the 476th Judicial District Court and extend
2727 to him sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it
2828 further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Judge Fonseca as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
