| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Alexander Kurian Seshan of Scouts BSA Troop No. 280 |

| 6 | 6 | | in Dripping Springs has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |

| 7 | 7 | | accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mr. Seshan earned the requisite 21 merit badges, including those |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | requiring expertise in such diverse areas as space exploration, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | emergency preparedness, and soil and water conservation; moreover, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | he has gained experience in leadership and teamwork while |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | undertaking his Eagle Scout project, which involved constructing a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 12-foot tower at Dripping Springs Ranch Park that serves as a nest |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | for chimney swifts, a bird species with a dwindling population; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The son of Natarajan and Rachel Seshan, this fine |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of his fellow troop members as he worked toward the highest rank |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | that the organization offers; a member of the Order of the Arrow, he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | has also served his troop as quartermaster, den chief, troop guide, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and senior patrol leader; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Seshan's dedication to excellence and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Alexander Kurian Seshan on |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best |
