44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Brian McCoy concluded his tenure as chief executive
66 officer of McCoy's Building Supply on May 31, 2022, following more
77 than two decades at the helm of the organization; and
88 WHEREAS, Based in San Marcos, McCoy's Building Supply was
99 founded by Mr. McCoy's grandfather, Frank McCoy, in 1927; Brian
1010 McCoy has been involved with the company for 50 years, and he has
1111 held a variety of positions, including yard hand, truck driver,
1212 floor salesperson, assistant store manager, store manager,
1313 merchandise manager, vice president, and copresident; he became
1414 president and CEO in 2001, and he also serves as chair of the board
1515 of directors; with his retirement, Meagan McCoy Jones, Mr. McCoy's
1616 daughter, takes over as president and CEO of the family-owned
1717 business, which today encompasses 90 locations across five states;
1818 and
1919 WHEREAS, In addition to his work with McCoy's Building
2020 Supply, Mr. McCoy is a partner in McCoy Remme Ranches, and he serves
2121 as board president of the Emmett and Miriam McCoy College of
2222 Business Administration Development Foundation at Texas State
2323 University; he is a former board president of the Lumbermen's
2424 Association of Texas; and
2525 WHEREAS, Among his many honors, Mr. McCoy received the 2003
2626 Ethics in Business Award from the Samaritan Center in Austin, and he
2727 was named the 2004 Business Person of the Year by the San Marcos
2828 Area Chamber of Commerce; he holds a bachelor's degree in finance
2929 from Texas Tech University, and in 2006, he was recognized as a
3030 Distinguished Alumnus of the Rawls College of Business; in 2012, he
3131 received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Texas Tech Alumni
3232 Association; and
3333 WHEREAS, Brian McCoy's visionary leadership and unwavering
3434 commitment to excellence have played a vital role in the success of
3535 McCoy's Building Supply, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
3636 contributions to this respected Texas company; now, therefore, be
3737 it
3838 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3939 Legislature hereby congratulate Brian McCoy on his retirement as
4040 CEO of McCoy's Building Supply and extend to him sincere best wishes
4141 for the future; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for Mr. McCoy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4444 House of Representatives.
