| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 108th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | cause for celebration, and Daisy Lee Jones of Calvert is marking |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | that special milestone on April 16, 2023, to the great delight of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | her family and friends; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Calvert in 1915, the former Daisy Farris is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the daughter of Frankie and Lonnie P. Farris; she grew up with four |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | siblings, Roosevelt, Jessie Lee, Ceola, and Lizzie; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She was joined in matrimony to T. J. Jones on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | November 9, 1935; they were blessed with five children, Evelyn, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Tommie, Joshua, Lonnie, and Lizzie, and Mrs. Jones devoted herself |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to her home and family; generous and caring, she frequently took in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | other children from the community when the need arose; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Jones was a valued member of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Providence Baptist Church, and she was very active in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | congregation over the years; skilled in a number of crafts, she |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting, and quilting; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Jones is the treasured matriarch of a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | fine family that spans five generations, and she takes great pride |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | great-great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Daisy Jones has enriched the lives of innumerable |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | people over the course of more than a century, and she continues to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | be a source of joy and inspiration to all who are fortunate enough |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Daisy Lee Jones on the occasion of |

| 31 | 31 | | her 108th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
