| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of more than two and a half decades, |

| 6 | 6 | | the Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association has provided |

| 7 | 7 | | invaluable support and guidance to school district police |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | departments; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The organization traces its origins back to 1996, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | when school district police chiefs in the Houston area began |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | holding informal meetings to discuss issues related to their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | profession; the group established the Southeast Texas School |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | District Police Chiefs Association in 1997, and the following year, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the organization hosted its first annual training conference; in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 2001, the organization's name was changed to the Texas School |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | District Police Chiefs' Association to reflect its mission to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | promote the statewide standardization of school district policing; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Today, the association benefits from the able |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | guidance of its executive board, which includes president Solomon |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Cook, first vice president Bill Avera, second vice president Kirby |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Warnke, third vice president Charles McDuffie, fourth vice |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | president Paul Cordova, immediate past president David Kimberly, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | treasurer Jimmy Womack, and secretary Alan Bragg; and |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through its visionary leadership, the Texas School |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | District Police Chiefs' Association is helping to ensure the safety |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of students, faculty, and staff in school districts across the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | state, and it is a pleasure to recognize the organization for its |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | outstanding record of service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend the Texas School District Police Chiefs' |

| 32 | 32 | | Association for its contributions to school district police |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | departments and extend to its members sincere best wishes for |
|---|
