| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Francis Luna of the Garland Independent School |

| 6 | 6 | | District was named the 2022 School Nurse of the Year by the Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | School Nurses Organization; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each year, TSNO confers this award to acknowledge |

| 9 | 9 | | excellence in the field; in addition to professional |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | accomplishments, it celebrates creativity, the ability to actively |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | listen, enthusiasm for going the extra mile, and wisdom in knowing |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | when to ask for help and how to seek it out; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Francis Luna is employed at Bradfield Elementary |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | School in Garland ISD; a registered nurse, she holds a master of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | science in nursing degree and the Nationally Certified School Nurse |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | credential, reflecting a high level of education, clinical practice |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | experience, and knowledge; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the well-being of students, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | faculty, and staff, Ms. Luna has implemented innovative programs to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | promote healthy living; she has traveled to Austin to champion |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | evidence-based practice guidelines, and she has served the National |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Association of School Nurses as Texas state director; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Luna has gained wide recognition for her |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | endeavors; in 2019, she received an Excellence in Nursing Award |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | from D Magazine for her activism in behalf of student health; she |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | was the only school nurse to garner this accolade; the Garland ISD |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Board of Trustees presented her with its Evidence of Excellence |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Award as well; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Francis Luna has earned the respect and admiration |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of her colleagues and the deep appreciation of the Garland ISD |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | community, and she is richly deserving of this prestigious honor; |

| 32 | 32 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
