| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ward, along with his Madison High School FFA |

| 9 | 9 | | Cowboy Smokers teammates Hannah McMullan, Lauren Williams, Autumn |

| 10 | 10 | | Juettemeyer, and Gabriel Alonso, bested teams from around the |

| 11 | 11 | | country to triumph in the National High School BBQ Association |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | contest; the group placed first in the steak and Dutch oven dessert |

| 13 | 13 | | categories and earned fourth, fifth, and seventh place honors for |

| 14 | 14 | | their chicken, burger, and ribs, respectively; and |

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In addition to bragging rights, the members of the |

| 16 | 16 | | Cowboy Smokers won full-tuition scholarships to Sullivan |

| 17 | 17 | | University, as well as championship belt buckles, barbecue knives, |

| 18 | 18 | | and other prizes; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, With his fine showing in THE SLAB: National |

| 20 | 20 | | Championship, Benton Ward has brought credit to his school, and he |

| 21 | 21 | | may take justifiable pride in the skill and dedication he has |

| 22 | 22 | | demonstrated; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Benton Ward on helping the Madison |
