| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bellaire Little League celebrated the 70th |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | anniversary of its founding as part of its 2023 opening day |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | ceremonies on March 4; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each spring, hundreds of young athletes ages 4 to 12 |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | join the league's baseball teams; participants on each of the 52 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | ballclubs learn the fundamentals of the sport as well as important |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | values such as loyalty, dedication, teamwork, and good |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sportsmanship; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Bellaire Little League has enjoyed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | an outstanding record of achievement; a BLL team from 2000 was |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | crowned national champion at the Little League World Series, a feat |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | commemorated on the Bellaire water tower; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This community-based, volunteer-powered |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | organization has benefited from the contributions of numerous area |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | residents since it was first established; today, that tradition of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | service is being carried on by the league's board of directors under |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the leadership of current president Sam Dagley, as well the many |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | other individuals who donate their time and talents to make BLL a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, By providing young people of all skill levels with a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | valuable recreational outlet and introducing them to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | character-building opportunities presented by athletic |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | competition, Bellaire Little League has made an important and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | positive difference in the lives of countless young Texans; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 70th anniversary of Bellaire |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Little League and extend to all those associated with the league |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | sincere appreciation for their efforts; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 35 | 35 | | prepared for the league as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|---|
