55 WHEREAS, Public-spirited citizens from across the Lone Star
66 State are gathering in Austin on April 18, 2023, to advocate for
77 women and their families during Blue Ribbon Lobby Day at the State
88 Capitol; and
99 WHEREAS, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day brings together members of
1010 Texas Democratic Women and other concerned women and leaders from
1111 around the state to draw attention to issues of importance to Texas
1212 women, including public education, health care, and economic
1313 security; and
1414 WHEREAS, During this day of action, Democratic women are
1515 meeting with legislators to discuss the need to ensure that women
1616 have equal opportunities and that their rights are equally
1717 protected in order that Texas' prosperity may continue; organizers
1818 for this year's event include Mary Ho, Sue Barrick, Daysi Marin,
1919 Farha Ahmed, Mary Morrison, Sofia Sheikh, Kawanda Miller Polk,
2020 Marti Fagley, and Kassandra Elejarza; and
2121 WHEREAS, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day presents an opportunity to
2222 call attention to the concerns of Texas women and their families and
2323 to work to make a positive difference in the Lone Star State; now,
2424 therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2626 Legislature hereby recognize April 18, 2023, as Blue Ribbon Lobby
2727 Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the advocates
2828 who are visiting here today.
