| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Vaccine Awareness and Advocacy Day |

| 6 | 6 | | at the State Capitol on March 29, 2023, provides an opportunity to |

| 7 | 7 | | honor the Baker Institute for Public Policy Center for Health and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Biosciences at Rice University for its outstanding work; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Center for Health and Biosciences unites medical |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and policy professionals to support data-driven legislation that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | addresses U.S. health care, global health, public health, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | advances in medicine; the organization encompasses researchers |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | from Rice University and the Texas Medical Center who conduct |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | studies on a wide range of health topics, and it operates a variety |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of programs to analyze research and identify possible solutions; in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | addition, the center hosts events to educate professionals as well |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | as the general public about key health issues; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2023, the Center for Health and Biosciences is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sponsoring the Vaccines Cause Adults campaign to share factual |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | information about vaccines and to promote vaccine access and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | equity; the organization has published a number of informative |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | resources on vaccine-related research, policies, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | misconceptions, and it is hosting a meet-and-greet event to discuss |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the importance of vaccines; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Vaccines have been an enormous boon to humankind, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | reducing death and suffering for hundreds of millions of people |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | around the world, and the Center for Health and Biosciences is truly |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | deserving of special recognition for its efforts to improve access |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | among all members of society; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 29, 2023, as Vaccine Awareness |
