| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Recovery Day at the State Capitol is taking place on |

| 6 | 6 | | April 5, 2023, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | addiction professionals for their many contributions to the health |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and well-being of Texas residents; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Addiction professionals work to prevent, treat, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | support recovery from substance use disorders through |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | evidence-based services, such as intervention programs, peer |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | support, and educational initiatives; these skilled individuals |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the highest standards |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of their profession, and they have played an instrumental role in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | local communities' response to the opioid crisis; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Today, the addiction professional workforce |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | encompasses more than 100,000 counselors, educators, peer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | specialists, and other health care personnel; moreover, addiction |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | professionals work in a wide variety of settings, including |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | outpatient care centers, mental health and substance use disorder |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | facilities, general medicine and surgical hospitals, clinics, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | prisons, probation agencies, juvenile detention facilities, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | recovery housing, recovery community centers, and detoxification |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | centers; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through their dedicated efforts, addiction |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | professionals are helping to improve the quality of life for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | numerous people in the Lone Star State, and they are deserving of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | their fellow citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 5, 2023, as Recovery Day at the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | State Capitol and commend all addiction professionals for their |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | contributions. |
