| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of Texas 400 are dedicated to improving |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | health care in the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, A grassroots, bipartisan organization of practicing |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and retired physicians, TX400 works to promote the right of every |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | patient to be seen by a professional fully trained in medical school |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and medical residency programs; the group draws its membership from |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | across the spectrum, including practicing and retired physicians, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | primary care doctors, medical and surgical specialists, residents, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and medical students; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Members of TX400 promote transparency in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | furtherance of patient safety; through their endeavors, they strive |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to ensure that members of the public are always apprised of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | credentials and training of those who are providing their medical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | care, so that patients know whether they are being seen by a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | nonphysician provider, or NPP; members support the right of every |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | patient to choose physician-led care, and they warn against the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | confusion caused in a clinical setting when the title "doctor" is |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | claimed by those who do not possess an MD, DO, or MBBS degree; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Focusing on accountability, TX400 advocates for all |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | health care facilities to clearly post the name of the responsible |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | physician, along with notification as to whether that physician is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | on site; the organization cautions that patients cannot expect the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | same level of care from advanced practice nurses as from a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | physician, and that in the event of a legal dispute, courts do not |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | hold nurses to the same standards as physicians; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The members of TX400 are united in their commitment |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to the health and well-being of their fellow citizens, and it is |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | indeed a pleasure to welcome them to the State Capitol; now, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | therefore, be it |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Texas 400 for its efforts in health care |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | safety, transparency, and accountability and extend to its members |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | work; and, be it further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
