| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

| 6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Minerva Rodriguez Lopez of Robstown, who passed away on June 26, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2022, at the age of 84; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Nicholas and Maria Elena Gonzales |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Rodriguez, the former Minerva Rodriguez was born in Robstown on |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | February 4, 1938, and she grew up with the companionship of four |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | siblings, Nicholas, Ramiro, Armando, and Maria Elena; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez was a cofounder of Lopez Broadcasting, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | where she enjoyed a rewarding career that spanned more than three |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | decades, and she cofounded Cotton Broadcasting with her husband, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Humberto Lozano Lopez, and son Carlos Lopez in 1985; four years |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | later, the trio established KMIQ Majic Tejano, one of the first |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Spanish-language FM radio stations in the nation, and they |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | subsequently founded the KHMC Majic Tejano station in Victoria; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | they went on to establish KLMO Tejano in San Antonio as well as a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | number of broadcasting stations in Corpus Christi, and they found |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | further success in the television industry; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez shared 55 years of marriage with her |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | husband before Mr. Lopez's passing in 2011; in addition to her son |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Carlos, she took great pride in their 11 other children, Mario |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Humberto, Luis Homero, Larry, Manuel, Humberto, Ernest, Mena Lamar, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Melinda, Ray, Lisa, and Mary Helen, and over the years, her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | treasured family grew to include 39 grandchildren and 31 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | great-grandchildren; sustained by a deep faith, she was a devoted |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | parishioner of St. Anthony Church; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Minerva Lopez lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and she will forever be a source of inspiration to those who were |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Minerva Rodriguez |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Lopez and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn her passing; |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | and, be it further |

| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 39 | 39 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Minerva |
