| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Bobby Ott of the Temple Independent School |

| 6 | 6 | | District has been named the 2022 Superintendent of the Year by the |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Ott earned his bachelor's and master's degrees |

| 9 | 9 | | at Angelo State University and his doctorate at The University of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Texas at Austin, and he began his career as a coach, teacher, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | principal in Round Rock and Anson; after serving as director of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | statewide initiatives for the Texas Education Agency and director |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of literacy initiatives for the UT System, he was deputy |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | superintendent in Copperas Cove and Killeen before joining Temple |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | ISD in 2012 as assistant superintendent of curriculum and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | instruction; during his nearly six-year tenure in this position, he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | helped to greatly improve the district's ratings with the state |

|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Since becoming Temple's superintendent in April |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 2018, Dr. Ott has demonstrated remarkable drive, energy, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | initiative; his excellent working relationship with the board of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | trustees helped the board win recognition as 2019-2020 Region 12 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | School Board of the Year, and under his leadership, the district has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | received national awards for two years in a row for fiscal |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | transparency and stewardship from the Government Finance Officers |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Association and ASBO International; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Ott also demonstrated remarkable leadership |

| 28 | 28 | | during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he oversaw the successful passage |

| 29 | 29 | | of a $164.8 million bond package for the district in 2022; he |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | presents an annual overview of the district to civic groups and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | other stakeholders across the community, and he sends out a monthly |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | digital newsletter, Ott's Outlook, to more than 5,000 subscribers; |

| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his professional responsibilities, |
