44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A life of honorable service drew to a close with the
66 passing of retired Karnes County constable Dennis Ray Fenner on May
77 16, 2022, at the age of 72; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Elroy and Ardanella Fenner, Dennis Fenner
99 was born in Kenedy on December 13, 1949, and he grew up with the
1010 companionship of two brothers, Pat and Roy; he graduated from
1111 Kenedy High School in 1968, and he received a bachelor's degree in
1212 criminal justice from Central Texas College in Killeen; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Fenner enjoyed a rewarding career in law
1414 enforcement that spanned nearly five decades beginning in 1972,
1515 when he joined the Karnes County Sheriff's Department as a reserve
1616 officer; answering his nation's call to duty, he went on to serve in
1717 the U.S. Army as a military police officer and investigator, and he
1818 later became an agent in the army's Criminal Investigation
1919 Division; he subsequently worked as chief deputy with the Karnes
2020 County Sheriff's Department before serving as chief of the Kenedy
2121 Police Department for 12 years; he subsequently took on the role of
2222 Karnes County constable for Precinct No. 1, and he retired on
2323 December 31, 2021, after two decades in that office; and
2424 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Fenner benefited from the
2525 love and support of his wife, Linda, with whom he shared nearly 53
2626 years, and he took great pride in their son, Kevin; with the passage
2727 of time, he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family a
2828 grandson, Chase, and two granddaughters, Autumn and Chelsie; a man
2929 of deep faith, he was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd
3030 Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenedy; and
3131 WHEREAS, A devoted family man and an exemplary public
3232 servant, Dennis Fenner made a meaningful difference in the lives of
3333 his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions
3434 will be remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dennis Ray Fenner
3737 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3838 wife, Linda Green Fenner; to his son, Kevin Fenner, and his wife,
3939 Debbie; to his brothers, Pat Glen Fenner and his wife, Mariann, and
4040 Roy Lee Fenner; to his grandchildren, Chase, Autumn, and Chelsie
4141 Fenner; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4444 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dennis
4545 Fenner.
