5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life of honorable service drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of retired Karnes County constable Dennis Ray Fenner on May |
---|
7 | 7 | | 16, 2022, at the age of 72; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Elroy and Ardanella Fenner, Dennis Fenner |
---|
9 | 9 | | was born in Kenedy on December 13, 1949, and he grew up with the |
---|
10 | 10 | | companionship of two brothers, Pat and Roy; he graduated from |
---|
11 | 11 | | Kenedy High School in 1968, and he received a bachelor's degree in |
---|
12 | 12 | | criminal justice from Central Texas College in Killeen; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fenner enjoyed a rewarding career in law |
---|
14 | 14 | | enforcement that spanned nearly five decades beginning in 1972, |
---|
15 | 15 | | when he joined the Karnes County Sheriff's Department as a reserve |
---|
16 | 16 | | officer; answering his nation's call to duty, he went on to serve in |
---|
17 | 17 | | the U.S. Army as a military police officer and investigator, and he |
---|
18 | 18 | | later became an agent in the army's Criminal Investigation |
---|
19 | 19 | | Division; he subsequently worked as chief deputy with the Karnes |
---|
20 | 20 | | County Sheriff's Department before serving as chief of the Kenedy |
---|
21 | 21 | | Police Department for 12 years; he subsequently took on the role of |
---|
22 | 22 | | Karnes County constable for Precinct No. 1, and he retired on |
---|
23 | 23 | | December 31, 2021, after two decades in that office; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Fenner benefited from the |
---|
25 | 25 | | love and support of his wife, Linda, with whom he shared nearly 53 |
---|
26 | 26 | | years, and he took great pride in their son, Kevin; with the passage |
---|
27 | 27 | | of time, he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family a |
---|
28 | 28 | | grandson, Chase, and two granddaughters, Autumn and Chelsie; a man |
---|
29 | 29 | | of deep faith, he was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd |
---|
30 | 30 | | Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenedy; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and an exemplary public |
---|
32 | 32 | | servant, Dennis Fenner made a meaningful difference in the lives of |
---|
33 | 33 | | his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions |
---|
34 | 34 | | will be remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dennis Ray Fenner |
---|
37 | 37 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
---|
38 | 38 | | wife, Linda Green Fenner; to his son, Kevin Fenner, and his wife, |
---|
39 | 39 | | Debbie; to his brothers, Pat Glen Fenner and his wife, Mariann, and |
---|
40 | 40 | | Roy Lee Fenner; to his grandchildren, Chase, Autumn, and Chelsie |

41 | 41 | | Fenner; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
