| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Proud residents of Jersey Village are celebrating |

| 6 | 6 | | the establishment of their town with a Founders Day event on |

| 7 | 7 | | April 15, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A Houston suburb located in west central Harris |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | County, Jersey Village was established in 1953, when Clark W. Henry |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and N. E. Kennedy and Son developed homesites on Jersey Lake; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | according to some accounts, the community was named for the Jersey |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | cows owned by Mr. Henry during his time in the dairy industry; the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | town was officially incorporated in 1956; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The 2023 Jersey Village Founders Day celebration is |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | being held at Clark Henry Park and will feature a wide variety of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fun activities, including carnival games, amusement rides, and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | fireworks show; local residents also have the opportunity to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | participate in the event's chili cook-off; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Jersey Village Founders Day festival is a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | beloved community tradition that combines family-friendly |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recreation with an appreciation for the town's rich heritage, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | it has long been a source of enrichment and entertainment for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | residents and visitors alike; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 Jersey Village Founders Day |

| 26 | 26 | | celebration and extend to the organizers and attendees sincere best |
