| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rick Grady is concluding his exemplary service on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the Plano City Council in May 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, First elected in 2015 to represent Place 3, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Mr. Grady has been a member of the city council for eight years; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | over the course of his tenure, he has focused on keeping tax rates |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | low and addressing the transportation and housing needs of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | rapidly growing city; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated public official has further |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | benefited his fellow citizens as chair of the Emergency |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Preparedness Planning Council of the North Central Texas Council of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Governments as well as the Friends of Consumer Freedom, a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | nationwide organization dedicated to financial literacy education; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | in addition to cofounding the Collin County Veterans' Coalition, he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was previously chair of Plano's Planning and Zoning Commission and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Community Relations Commission; moreover, he has held |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | membership with the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | National League of Cities Finance, Administration & |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Intergovernmental Relations Committee, the NCTCG Regional |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Transportation Council, and the Texas Municipal League Resolutions |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Committee, among numerous other civic and charitable |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | organizations; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A proud Vietnam veteran, Mr. Grady served with the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Military Assistance Command Vietnam and the U.S. Army 1st Aviation |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Brigade; he received the Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Cross of Gallantry, and later in life, he was honored with the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Congressional Veteran Commendation; in his civilian career, he led |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | public relations, mergers and acquisitions, and intelligence |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | activities for several Fortune 500 companies; prior to his time on |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the city council, he served as vice president of research and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | economics at the Cornerstone Credit Union League; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | able and dedicated efforts of our public servants, and Rick Grady |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | may take pride in all that he has accomplished in behalf of area |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | residents; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby commend Rick Grady for his service on the Plano |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
