44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
66 of Felix Landin Jr. of Corpus Christi, who passed away on
77 December 15, 2021, at the age of 80; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Mary S. Landin and Felix Landin Sr., Felix
99 Landin was born on October 8, 1941, and he grew up with the
1010 companionship of four siblings, Mary Alice, Lena, Amando, and
1111 Armando; after graduating from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1962,
1212 he joined the Texas Army National Guard and completed assignments
1313 at Missouri and California; he later served in the reserve for six
1414 years; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. Landin began his career in retail with the Gulf
1616 Merchandising Company, and he went on to take a position with the
1717 Woolco Department Store in Corpus Christi before working as a
1818 division manager in Laredo and as an assistant store manager in
1919 Brownsville; he was subsequently employed with Gibson Discount
2020 Stores in Brownsville and Corpus Christi; he joined the Gibraltar
2121 Mausoleum Corporation, and he became a manager at cemeteries in
2222 Robstown and Corpus Christi; after a brief retirement, he returned
2323 to work at Memory Gardens Cemetery for five years; and
2424 WHEREAS, Highly engaged in his community, Mr. Landin served
2525 as vice president of the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District
2626 Board of Trustees, and he was a former member and grant chair of the
2727 Tuloso-Midway ISD Education Foundation; he was also involved in
2828 numerous other civic organizations, including Boy Scouts of
2929 America, Corpus Christi Bay Kiwanis, the American G.I. Forum of
3030 Texas, and American Legion Post 364; and
3131 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Landin enjoyed the love
3232 and support of his wife, Yolanda, with whom he shared 58 years, and
3333 he took great pride in his four children, Felix IV, Aldo Allen,
3434 Erika Lanette, and Alex, who preceded his father in death; with the
3535 passage of time, his treasured family grew to include six
3636 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and
3737 WHEREAS, Felix Landin lived a life that was rich in personal
3838 and professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
3939 inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
4040 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4141 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Felix Landin Jr.
4242 and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4545 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Felix
4646 Landin.
