5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
---|
6 | 6 | | of Felix Landin Jr. of Corpus Christi, who passed away on |
---|
7 | 7 | | December 15, 2021, at the age of 80; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Mary S. Landin and Felix Landin Sr., Felix |
---|
9 | 9 | | Landin was born on October 8, 1941, and he grew up with the |
---|
10 | 10 | | companionship of four siblings, Mary Alice, Lena, Amando, and |
---|
11 | 11 | | Armando; after graduating from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1962, |
---|
12 | 12 | | he joined the Texas Army National Guard and completed assignments |
---|
13 | 13 | | at Missouri and California; he later served in the reserve for six |
---|
14 | 14 | | years; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Landin began his career in retail with the Gulf |
---|
16 | 16 | | Merchandising Company, and he went on to take a position with the |
---|
17 | 17 | | Woolco Department Store in Corpus Christi before working as a |
---|
18 | 18 | | division manager in Laredo and as an assistant store manager in |
---|
19 | 19 | | Brownsville; he was subsequently employed with Gibson Discount |
---|
20 | 20 | | Stores in Brownsville and Corpus Christi; he joined the Gibraltar |
---|
21 | 21 | | Mausoleum Corporation, and he became a manager at cemeteries in |
---|
22 | 22 | | Robstown and Corpus Christi; after a brief retirement, he returned |
---|
23 | 23 | | to work at Memory Gardens Cemetery for five years; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Highly engaged in his community, Mr. Landin served |
---|
25 | 25 | | as vice president of the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District |
---|
26 | 26 | | Board of Trustees, and he was a former member and grant chair of the |
---|
27 | 27 | | Tuloso-Midway ISD Education Foundation; he was also involved in |
---|
28 | 28 | | numerous other civic organizations, including Boy Scouts of |
---|
29 | 29 | | America, Corpus Christi Bay Kiwanis, the American G.I. Forum of |
---|
30 | 30 | | Texas, and American Legion Post 364; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Landin enjoyed the love |
---|
32 | 32 | | and support of his wife, Yolanda, with whom he shared 58 years, and |
---|
33 | 33 | | he took great pride in his four children, Felix IV, Aldo Allen, |
---|
34 | 34 | | Erika Lanette, and Alex, who preceded his father in death; with the |
---|
35 | 35 | | passage of time, his treasured family grew to include six |
---|
36 | 36 | | grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Felix Landin lived a life that was rich in personal |
---|
38 | 38 | | and professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of |
---|
39 | 39 | | inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Felix Landin Jr. |
---|
42 | 42 | | and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
44 | 44 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
45 | 45 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Felix |
---|
46 | 46 | | Landin. |
