| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez of the West Oso Independent School |

| 6 | 6 | | District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in |

| 7 | 7 | | Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Rodriguez is the current president of the West |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Oso ISD Board of Trustees; she first joined the board in 2000, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | over the course of her 23-year tenure, she has served two terms as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | president and has also held the positions of secretary and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | vice-president; through the years, she has distinguished herself |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | through her unwavering commitment to the West OSO ISD community and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | its students, and under her able leadership, the board was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | recognized as the 2006 Outstanding Board of the Year by the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Association of School Boards; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An elementary school teacher for two decades, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Ms. Rodriguez holds a bachelor's degree in business administration |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and a master's degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez has set an outstanding example of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Velma Rodriguez on her receipt of a |

| 26 | 26 | | 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |

| 27 | 27 | | Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
