44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez of the West Oso Independent School
66 District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in
77 Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she
88 will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and
99 WHEREAS, Ms. Rodriguez is the current president of the West
1010 Oso ISD Board of Trustees; she first joined the board in 2000, and
1111 over the course of her 23-year tenure, she has served two terms as
1212 president and has also held the positions of secretary and
1313 vice-president; through the years, she has distinguished herself
1414 through her unwavering commitment to the West OSO ISD community and
1515 its students, and under her able leadership, the board was
1616 recognized as the 2006 Outstanding Board of the Year by the Texas
1717 Association of School Boards; and
1818 WHEREAS, An elementary school teacher for two decades,
1919 Ms. Rodriguez holds a bachelor's degree in business administration
2020 and a master's degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; and
2121 WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez has set an outstanding example of
2222 leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is
2323 indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Velma Rodriguez on her receipt of a
2626 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center
2727 Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
2828 in her important work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
