| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore of the West Oso Independent School |

| 6 | 6 | | District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in |

| 7 | 7 | | Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Fillmore embarked on her educational career |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | with West Oso ISD in 1992, and prior to assuming her current |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | position as athletic director in 2017, she served as a physical |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | education coach, an AVID teacher, and a counselor; over the course |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of her exemplary tenure, she has worked tirelessly to elevate the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | district's athletic programs, and she has also encouraged countless |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | students to strive for athletic excellence while supporting them in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the pursuit of their future educational and career goals; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of West Oso High School, Ms. Fillmore |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she played |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | basketball; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore has set an outstanding example of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Cheryl Fillmore on her receipt of a |

| 25 | 25 | | 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |

| 26 | 26 | | Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
