5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Armida Gonzalez of Corpus Christi on February 16, 2023, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 85; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Domingo and Santa Curiel Garza, the |
---|
9 | 9 | | former Armida Garza was born in Corpus Christi on November 1, 1937, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and she grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Carmen, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Ruben, Domingo, and Amelia; throughout her youth, she excelled |
---|
12 | 12 | | academically and played multiple musical instruments, including |
---|
13 | 13 | | the violin, the clarinet, and the keyboard; she graduated from Roy |
---|
14 | 14 | | Miller High School in 1956; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A devoted homemaker, Mrs. Gonzalez enjoyed a |
---|
16 | 16 | | rewarding family life with her husband, Leo Gonzalez Jr., with whom |
---|
17 | 17 | | she shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2013; she was |
---|
18 | 18 | | the proud mother of five children, Annette, Vivianna, Leo, Louis, |
---|
19 | 19 | | and Daniel, and with the passing years, she had the privilege of |
---|
20 | 20 | | watching her family grow to include eight granddaughters and a |
---|
21 | 21 | | great-grandson; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A deeply religious woman, Mrs. Gonzalez was a |
---|
23 | 23 | | faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; |
---|
24 | 24 | | in her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, listening to music, and |
---|
25 | 25 | | singing; in addition, she was a talented writer and poet; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Armida Gonzalez lived a rich and purposeful life |
---|
27 | 27 | | centered around her family and her faith, and she will long be |
---|
28 | 28 | | remembered with deep affection by all who knew her; now, therefore, |
---|
29 | 29 | | be it |

30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Armida Gonzalez and |
---|
32 | 32 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |

33 | 33 | | children, Annette Morgan and her husband, Mike, Vivianna Coronado |
---|
34 | 34 | | and her husband, Steve, Leo Gonzalez and his wife, Cindie, Louis |

35 | 35 | | Gonzalez, and Daniel Gonzalez; to her granddaughters, Ava Coronado |
