| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Ernst Nicanord of The University of Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | Medical Branch at Galveston is serving as Physician of the Day at |

| 7 | 7 | | the State Capitol on May 3, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Physician of the Day program at the State |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Capitol provides for a doctor from the Texas Academy of Family |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Physicians to be on call each day of a legislative session as a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | resource for legislators and support staff; family physicians |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | travel from all over the state to volunteer their time and expertise |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | at the Capitol health clinic; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Ernst Nicanord is an assistant professor in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine, and he also serves as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | physician at the UTMB Dickinson Family Medicine Clinic; moreover, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he is active in a number of professional organizations, including |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Association, and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The first in his family to attend college and to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | graduate from medical school, Dr. Nicanord holds a bachelor's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | degree in biology from Oakwood University and a doctor of medicine |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | degree from the Ross University School of Medicine; he completed |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | training through the UTMB Family Medicine Residency Program and the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | UTMB Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program; furthermore, he is a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | board certified family physician; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Dr. Nicanord has |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | provided skilled and compassionate care to his fellow citizens, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | it is indeed a pleasure to welcome this esteemed medical |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | professional to the State Capitol; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commend Dr. Ernst Nicanord for his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | participation in the Physician of the Day program and extend to him |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
