| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Voelker is concluding his service as mayor of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Richardson in May 2023, drawing to a close an exemplary tenure in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | municipal government that has spanned 10 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Voelker first joined the Richardson City |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Council in 2013, and after being elected as mayor pro tempore by his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | fellow council members, he was appointed to serve as mayor in May |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 2015; he was elected to that office in 2017 and went on to be |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | reelected in 2019 and 2021; demonstrating strong leadership over |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the course of his tenure as mayor, he helped guide Richardson during |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | a period of tremendous growth and excelled in his duties as the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | presiding officer of the city council and as the official head of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | government and representative for the city; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Mayor Voelker is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a member of the Richardson Police Department Breckenridge Park West |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | crime watch patrol; he has also served on the Richardson Chamber of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Commerce ex officio board and as an ex officio member of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Leadership Richardson advisory board, and he is active in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Leadership Richardson Alumni Association, having been a member of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the program's Class XVI; in addition, he has previously given |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | generously of his time to a number of other organizations, boards, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and committees, including the Metroplex Mayors Association, the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Richardson Zoning Board of Adjustments, and the Richardson |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Independent School District Foundation; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of William Penn University, Mayor Voelker |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | is the CEO of TrenData Inc. and has more than three decades of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | experience working in the Richardson Telecom Corridor; in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | recognition of his expertise in the field, he was appointed to the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | IT Cluster Committee by Governor Rick Perry; in all his endeavors, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Kris, and their son, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Ryan; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The dedication, expertise, and commitment to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | excellence demonstrated by Paul Voelker have greatly benefited the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby commend Paul Voelker on his service as mayor of |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Richardson and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
